Learn How To Play Your Instrument
By Matthew Toledo - 12/13/2000
Chords and scales. Only music majors and massachists like to re-invent the wheel by trying to build these things on their own.
Music is a language that has rules, mathmatical rules. There is so much math involved in the creation of music that a few music savvy programmers have made web sites that can show you a new scale, or build a chord for you.
Here are a few links to help you build chords and scales.
http://www.chordfind.com - Lets you build guitar chords, or you can plug in the tab and find out what chord you are making. It has a neat fretboard display that automatically updates when you build a new chord.
http://ws64.com/keyboardchords/ - same as above, only this is for the keyboard. This is a great learning tool for keyboard players everywhere.
http://orion.zztong.com/~zztong/bass/ - Bruce Tong, a sofware engeneer from Athens, Ohio and the bass player for Direct Attention has created a bass scale utility. Now bass players can create a scale based on a root note, mode, and other stuff. Neat tool for bass players everywhere.
http://exodus.mit.edu/~jesse/guitarchords.html - is a less dynamic guitar chord resource excellent for printing.
So, visit these web pages and learn how to play, will ya!
