Get Your Local Tune on Power 105
By, Matt Toledo and Randy Norris - 4/24/2001
The AMN has just learned that local bands will be able to purchase air time for their music on Power 105 as part of a charity event for the Athens County chapter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters this Friday. I recently talked to radio personality Randy Norris about the event. This is what he had to say.
"The rumors are true. Power 105 will hold its first-ever Pay 4 Play Friday on April 27th, 2001. We will flush the format on Friday and play whatever people pay to hear. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Athens County."
"We are highly encouraging local/regional musicians to book time...in fact, we've reserved special blocks of time specifically for local bands--no one else can buy their time! These local band blocks have also been placed in a prime time...making it a great way for our local and regional acts to get some good airplay. In addition, we encourage the bands to send along info as to where they'll be playing, where their CD can be purchased, etc. so the DJ can plug it. "
"Songs are $10.00 each and can be purchased between now and Friday at our studios during normal business hours and on Friday between 10am and 7pm at College Gate. The sooner the better...because these spots are filling up quick!" -- Randy Norris, PD/OM WXTQ-FM (Power 105)
