Radio Shows on 1340 AM To Feature Local and Regional Bandsby Eric Leighton (courtesy of circle5.org)
WOUB-AM 1340 is changing its Saturday daytime format. Tune in from 6:00 AM until 6:00 PM and hear lots of cool tuneage: a roots/country show from 6-9 AM, Bryan Gibson from 9-noon, Matt Box from 12-3pm, and yours truly from 3-6 PM. Everyone will feature local and regional music intertwined throughout the day, and I will host a dedicated local and regional music section from 5-6pm, beginning this Saturday. The local show will have live, in-studio featured artists, local concert listings, and advanced previews of upcoming shows, among other goodies.
These shows are available in a streaming audio format found at woub.org. Eventually, I believe the shows will be archived on-line, so you can listen at any time that is convenient for you, and you can read the play lists, etc.
Here is what needs to happen: You as a local musician, or friend of a local musician, must get copies of CDs (or vinyl), and submit them for review by mailing them to:
Circle 5 Music
P.O. Box 115
The Plains, OH 45780
A very important aspect of this must be your expressed, written permission stating that WOUB is allowed to air your music. Nothing too fancy, but if you aren’t signed on to ASCAP or BMI, we need that permission. If you email your okay to music@circle5.org, we can print it out and keep a copy handy in case the FCC comes a knocking.
This is a very exciting development for the local music scene. You know who you are, and you know what you need to do. There is free ink from the Athens NEWS, and free airplay and on-line play(?) from WOUB-AM 1340. Get your stuff to the above address, and send your permission along with it. We’ll take care of the rest. Keep in mind that if you want a show to be mentioned on-air, you need to email me by the Thursday of the week before a show. In doing so, you know that you will be covered in the A-NEWS as well. One stop promotional work!
