Preview Of The Fifth Annual Athens Music Community Festival
By Matthew Toledo - 8/21/2003
The 5th annual Athens Music Community Festival has arrived. The local Knights of Columbus chapter is sponsoring and organizing the event. However most of the work has been done by local businessman Jim Fuller and local booking agent and musician Scott Winland.
The music festival serves as a benefit for the Appalachian County Visiting Nurses Association. The mission of the ACVNA is to become Southeast Ohio's primary source for quality home care and to strive to identify and fulfill the healthcare needs of our Appalachian community. They serve Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Vinton, Perry and Morgan Counties.
In previous years the festival has raised several thousand dollars for charity. This years festival promises to break the record set last year. First of all, the event is even larger this year. Two new venues have joined the festival this year. The Donkey and The Smiling Skull Saloon.
A grand total of 35 performances will take place at 7 venues. An $8 wrist band lets you wander to all of the venues at will, without having to pay a cover again. A $5 is good for only one venue. It's best to wander and see as many acts as you can. Free prizes donated by local businesses will be given out in between bands by each venue's official AMCF emcee.
The official bill is shown below complete with links to the band's homepage, sound clips and pictures if any exist. For a printable version of the lineup, click here!
