Third Year for Athens Area Sustainability Festival

These are just a few of the events scheduled at the third annual Athens Area Sustainability Festival to be held Saturday, October 11, 10-6, and Sunday, October 12, 12-5, Athens County Fairgrounds.
In the area of health and wellness there will be a roundtable on Disaster Preparedness, a roundtable on Energy Therapies, a workshop by the Red Cross, and a Drumming As Therapeutic Modality workshop:
Building and energy exhibits will include solar and wind-generated electricity, bio-diesel, and straw bale and cob construction. Children will be entertained through interactive games and sing-a-longs.
Civic and fraternal organizations will raise money for charities. Area vendors and exhibitors will show how they contribute to community sustainability and security through their products and services.
Cooking demos by local chefs will be featured. Sustainable agriculture and forestry exhibits will entertain and educate.
A Harvest Celebration Dinner will be held featuring locally and regionally produced farm goods, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Coop Extension conference room. The dinner is $10. The gate fee is $3.
