The Mainliners The five Mainliners have been playing all around Europe and Scandinavia at small local clubs or major festivals. Mallory Less polished and more raw and severe than many of their Indie counterparts, the Cincinnati based threesome (Jim Cunningham - guitar/vocals, Dan Heier - guitar/vocals and drummer Mat Arnold) is young but not inexperienced. Utilizing a dual guitar attack that's less bombastic and more skeletal and shimmering, complimented by powerhouse drumming, synthesized melodic leads and a lone, fragile voice.

Man Man "Man Man is an Experimental Rock group from Philadelphia. Man Man is known for their distinctive live shows where the members of the band dress in white outfits and don war paint. During their sets the band does not take breaks between songs in order to keep a constant energy level. Prior to settling on Man Man, the band was named Gamelon and briefly Magic Blood." -- Wikipedia

The Marbles 11.11.02 - By The Ghost Who Rocks - THE SCOUT - www.thescout.com Manda And The Marbles 11/11/02 @ Club LUXX Brooklyn, NY -- Manda Marble (from Columbus, OH) has this kind of blonde Uma Thurman does '77 thing going on. Her vocals are sweet as honey one minute, tough as nails the next. And while it's status quo these days to find a band with a female bassist, it's rare you'll find one as proficient as Ms. Marble. Their guitarist Joe Mertz is a talent in his own right, and the two traded cock rock solos and simulated onstage lays through the entire set.

MARGOT & THE NUCLEAR SO & SO’S As with most good stories, the tale of Margot & the nuclear so and so's begins in the depths of poverty and despair, far from the bright lights of Hollywood, tucked away in a decaying neighborhood somewhere in the midwest. The kind of neighborhood where it's often cold and grey. The kind of neighborhood where you might expect a gang of hoodlums like the so and so's to take solace in recording pop songs and causing general mayhem.

Melty Melty The name was conceived long before an actual line-up was formed or a single note was written and has no meaning beyond the thoughts or feelings the words might immediately elicit. Bound by their common desire to compose slower more simplistic ideas than were happening in their existing projects Denovo, Kopaz, and Frostiva; Sean, Kevin, and Sharon began compiling ideas that led to melty melty.

Miranda Sound Miranda Sound give an almost effortless performance on Engaged In Labor, which comes just eight months after their debut, Baby Inertia. With a chemist's skill, this Columbus, Ohio, quartet blends elements of prog, spiky pop and emo into a satisfying whole. "Clean Cut" is the sound of the Police and R.E.M. if they'd stayed true to their indie roots into maturity, while "Virginia Creeper" could be Matthew Sweet fronting Sunny Day Real Estate. The vocal interplay between guitarist Billy Peake and multi-instrumentalist Dan Gerken is the hallmark of the Miranda Sound and the rhythm section of bassist Sean Sefcik and drummer Scott Haynes shifts subtly and perfectly underneath it all. Engaged In Labor is an incredibly varied and compelling work and Miranda Sounds is only just getting started. -- by, Brian Barker for AMPLIFIER

Miss Alex White and the Red Orchestra Miss Alex White was abandoned in the woods until some friendly wolves allowed her to join their pack. She would eat raw flesh without thinking twice, sprint barefoot between the birch trees, and attack anyone who trespassed into her territory. One fateful day, Alex was encountered by three explorers, Dr. Wesley Kerstens, Eddie Altesleben III, and Eric Villa Esquire. Dr. Kerstens shot her with a tranquilizer gun, and Eddie & Eric grabbed her by the arms and legs. They gently placed her in the trunk of their car and took her to Warrendale, Detroit. It was there that they tamed her, groomed her, and taught her the magic of processed meat in the form of hot dogs. Since the magical autumn evening the three gentlemen taught Alex to walk upright on her two hind legs, the four have been inseparable. A result of their civilized union is a circular disc containing the primal ramblings of Alex, under the careful the supervision of her captors.

The Mistreaters "These Milwaukee boys demonstrate how it's done--it in this case being greasy, raw and ruthlessly paced garage punk. Controlled sloppiness within dazzling tightness, a big thick swampy sound with a distinct swing, basket weaving riffs, and garbage-can drums evoke a smoky little dive so packed and steamy that guys sweat beer and girls disrobe." Modey Lemon This Pittsburg two-piece--"lead" drummer Paul Quattrone and singer / guitarist / keyboardist Phil Boyd--never got the memo that the new garage rock couldn't simply be the old art punk. These dirt buckets do it to death, dumping a mound of scuzz atop the graves of all your favorite long-gone Nuggets wannabes. -- Spin Magazine December 2003

Mothman Mothman has spent most of it's near decade redefining it's sound. Due in part to frequent personnel changes and many quarts of Old Crow, mainstay styles such as redneck funk, jazzy instrumentals, satirical country and good ole' grinding rock and roll, have comprised their repertoire. The 1999 three piece lineup of MOTHMAN features the most radio friendly(eek!) efforts to date.

Mr. Airplane Man While the band's image and sound are nods to days gone by, its third album proves that good music is timeless. Rooted in raw country blues and fueled with a pinch of girl-been-wronged attitude and garage band grind, guitarist Margaret Garrett leans on blues rock riffs as drummer Tara McManus maintains a driving beat. The two pound out plenty of Stooges grit on noisy numbers like the title cut, while a raw, raucous juke joint blues influence comes into play on "Fallen." -- Playboy Magazine

Mr. Gnome Described in the musical press as "a definitively bipolar Massive Attack, with a whisper-to-shout, gentle-femininity-to-testosterone-rage. “With catchy guitar riffs, layered chords and an inimitable punch-draw approach to their music, this two-piece experiment is quickly becoming known for its chaotic sound that explores unpredictable shades of violence and intensity.”
