Matt Says: Casa is arguably the prettiest bar in Athens with it's curved wood surfaces and 3-D brick work. It's clean and has character. The acoustics are fantastic for musicians because all the odd angles in the architecture disperse the sound evenly. The bar owns a fantastic new sound system complete with compressors, limiters, separate monitor mixes, automatic feedback suppression, and way more power than they'll ever need. They now arguably have the best sound system in Athens. Local and national folk heroes like Dave Childers, punk bands like We March, and popular national underground acts like The Avett Bros. have all graced the stage. The bar has also been the home of previous hip-hop shows. Basically, anything goes. If you're not familiar with any of these bands, all you need to know is that just about any type of music flies at Casa. Everything from Folk, to Metal, to rock, to jam, to hip-hop, to emo, to indie. It's an 18 and over venue (with ID). If you want to get booked, contact Tim Peacock via email. He's a professional booking agent who books national Americana acts in Nelsonville (like the Squirrel Nut Zippers, among may others) on a regular basis. Tim also plays stand up bass in various bands. If you do get booked, drop off your posters a week in advance and they will hang them around the bar. Otherwise, you get listed on the generic Casa poster and that's it.

Once I tasted the enchilada verde with tofu, thats the only thing I get there. They make a mean bloody mary. Casa is a good place to raise your kids up!
