The only way I'll go see Tommy Ramone in a bluegrass band is to assassinate him |

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the akron/family due to their involvement with Michael Gira (ex-SWANS).. they were his back up band for his ANGELS OF LIGHT project, which is vastly different than SWANS but still punker than tommy ramone in a bluegrass band. |

there's a difference between pride and marketing...and that one falls in the lap of Kunsuummer. yuck. |

who's name? justin townes earle? |

justin townes earle is steve earle's son. obviously steve earle was buddies with townes van zandt and a huge fan of townes. justin townes earle actually writes a decent song and plays straight ahead country, good country, like it used to be played. he will be with a 3 piece band. |

country music: as far as i know there's still a lot of it being played. doesn't have to be used to be. anyway, j.t. earle, while perhaps being a great guy writing good songs and taking exception to pointless pencil-moderated arguments on a board read by ten people about his name (which he can rightly have a beef with except that i'm only talking about the difference between pride and marketing), wears his name like a walk in the mall. i like townes and old dad too and would be happy and proud to wear that name but when it's used like this to capture the fickle consumer dollar...well, as the reverend horton heat would say, "that's show-biz" but you don't have to like it and you can certainly be disdainful of the ploy no offense j.t. ... sort of. |

i can kinda agree, if his name was made up or some sort of stage name, but, that's his name. and, he prob actually knew tvz. i think tvz died in '94 or 5 and jte is in his mid 20s. so, if i were named after the legendary tvz and knew him and he died when i was about 12, i'd prob be proud to wear his name?? and if it gets a few more gigs/$/girls/drugs, why not? |

Tommy Ramone will be performing with his old-time/bluegrass duo called Uncle Monk on Saturday at 3pm and will be giving a workshop/talkshop kinda thing immediately prior at 2pm. I believe he will be discussing the Ramones days rocknroll compared to playing music in a folky duo 30 years later. There will be a Q & A too if anyone cares. |
