So I say The New Bomb Turks are/were the best PUNK band to ever come out of Ohio. What do you think about them apples?? |

i'd say you should check some older threads ... because the dead boys, pagans, DEVO, toxic reasons the cramps and scads of others were also from ohio...but yeah in the nineties no one could touch the turks..except maybe GAUNT. |

"Punk" in and of itself is a tired, descriptive crutch. Maybe I should have said the only relevant punk band in Ohio are the the Feelers. |

quote:bad apple:8143]"Punk" in and of itself is a tired, descriptive crutch. Maybe I should have said the only relevant punk band in Ohio are the the Feelers.[/quote].."best" and "relevant" are kinda the same thing when talking about bands... As far as the usage of the word "punk' goes to describe music you're probably right it's a little tired, but that's old jaded hipster talk idn't it?..... it would be cool if the term went back to being more broad...for lots of people when you say punk they immediately think of a certain sound, but i think a lot of un-punk sounding bands still have a punk aesthetic therefore making them punks and their music punk as well(although a lot of other people would call them crust or metal or folk ...whatever)... |
