Greetings Everyone, I'm in the process of converting all the songs on the AMN from realaudio to mp3. This will hopefully make it easier for all of you to listen to sound clips on the AMN. You won't need to download Real Audio, or Real Alternative anymore. As a result, any page that uses sound clips may act weird over the next week. I don't know if any of you have had the chance to add a concert to the AMN event listings. If you have, you'll notice there have been some major improvements to that page. More are on the way. These updates will eventually culminate in a tool for local venue booking managers that will let them add their shows to the AMN calendar and automatically notify the local press every week. I've talked about it in the past. Peacock and Junebug expressed a lot of interest in it. I'm making it a reality over the next two weeks. Finally. - Matt |

OK! Push-pins have been added to the "add concert" page. These push pins lock in the value of that field for up to one month. Why? Example: Lets say I am the booking guy for Casa. Most shows start at 10:00, so I'll set the time to 10:00 PM and lock it in. I only book for Casa, so lets "lock in" the venue too. I want the "web page" for all my shows to point to Casa's calendar, so let's "lock in" the web page. Since the cover charge varies a lot, I'll just put in "yes" and lock that in. Now, when ever I add my shows to the AMN concert listings. All I have to do is type in the name of the bands and the date of the show. All the other values are pre-set for me. This will make it easier for booking guys to add a bunch of shows to the AMN without having to type in the same stuff over and over again. Remember, the TAB key and the ENTER key are your friends. Just tab through the fields for faster data entry. The mouse slows you down. Hit the ENTER key when you are ready to submit the form. COMING SOON: I'll make a special section for promoters where they can add all the shows listed at their venue(s) to a press release and have it sent to all the local press. Promoters can manually add shows to the press release, or have the AMN automatically compile the shows for their venue as listed in the concert listings. It should be cool! After it goes into beta testing, I'd like suggestions from local promoters on how to make this new utility even more useful. Imagine, just add your shows to the AMN, and they appear on your myspace page, and are sent to the Athens News, Post, Messenger, and are added to the Athens City events calendar. AND.. .if you want, you can have the schedule emailed to a list of people. |
