There were a lot of people at the fest this year from the very start to the very end! Wow. If any of you have photos of the show, please contact me. I want copies. Thanks! |

More people in The Union than I've ever seen. Gave even huge Dance or Die crowds a run for their money. Lots of crowds in some of the other places too. Really exciting to see so many people out. Fun discussing the divisions in Athens culture with Tony Xenos. (Something along the lines of: There are the people who dress up like hookers and go out to the bar, and there are the music people, who for at least one night are out in full force, and yet that other universe still goes on ticking like any other night.) A pleasure to get a peek into the childhood of Scott Winland and Roman Warmke. Also a pleasure to share shots with those fine gentlemen and Dirty Johnny. Them booking guys sure are generous. Oh yeah, the bands. Really good. Mike Elliott and Liz Pahl were extremely entertaining at the Front Room early. (Missed Biester.) On Radar: Some moments of real intrigue. Red Dahlia was ace. Men of Gentle Birth were big and loud and just right. Royales had the people moving. Bob Stewart seems more and more like a folk singer (as opposed to a journalism professor) all the time. Bram dug in and did his thing, much to the people's delight. Dropdead Sons: It pained me to miss most of their set, but I had to go play unreasonably loud at Casa. That was fun. Cheers to the fest! |

Thanks to all who participated in this year's ACMF. We raised just over $5000, which is more than we've ever done. Thanks to Matt Toledo for supplying the online printable schedules, thanks to all of the venues and venue coordinators, and thanks most of all to the great acts that played. Highlights of my evening...Justin Gordon at Shishah, Bob Montalto at The Donkey, Liz Pahl backed by an amazing new band...lots more stuff....great night, no controversy or crisis! Again, thank you! -Scott |

the shisha cafe was a perfect venue to see justin gordon play. seeing him perfom holocaust girl was the highlight of my evening...maybe my summer. kitten fister also performed a highly entertaining set at o'hooley's. this year i managed to walk around and see more acts as opposed to getting wasted at one place. I swear the ACMF is my ALL time favorite Athens time of the year. It is one of the many things that make Athens so special. Saturday I walked around with a grin on my face from 4pm until 2am. It is so nice to see SOOO many people out to support such a great cause: The AMN, Hospice/Nurses Association, and our great local music scene. Highlights for me were: J.D. Hutchinsons' set- gave me goose bumps, Mike Elliot- loved the song shannon wrote, FINALLY seeing The Speed Knobs- who totally rocked, Red Dahlia's set- how can they keep getting better and better?? Matt T. tell me your secret!!!!, Drop Dead Sons- with Maceo at the back beat... awesome. I could really go on and on. Can't wait til next year. Thank you Scott Winland and Matt Toledo for asking me to play, Melina Miller, Jim Fuller and to everyone else who played and came out making the night truly, truly magical. |

My secret: Cover up my own inadequacies as a musician by adding more musicians to the band. We'll have an orchestra next year! |
