SubAtomic
Particles is a fledgling band
from the Lancaster, Ohio area. Formed
in the Summer of 2000, they came up with
these, their first 10 songs, in a 2-month
frenzy of practices. The styles range
from pseudo-emocore to power pop, from
distorted garage punk to acoustic melancholy,
reflecting the nearly schizophrenic mood
swings of the band's main songwriter,
Jarrod
This collection of songs
was recorded on a weather-beaten Tascam
424 portastudio in September of 2000.
The songs were then uploaded into SoundForge
4.5 and given what little "sweetening"
was available to unprofessional analog
recordings. Surprisingly, it does not
sound too bad as a whole, considering
some of the performances are more or less
live recordings with overdubs. Also, the
entire CD is mono, quite by accident.
I think that the songs stand on their
own, despite the recording quality. SubAtomic
Particles is planning to go into the studio
early 2001.
